Editorial Board Diversity
When Jess Fiedorowicz took over as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Psychosomatic Research in January of 2018, the core Associate Editor/Editor team was 17% female. The entire editorial board was 18% female and represented only nine European countries, the US, and Canada. Jess Fiedorowicz enacted a policy to make the core editor team 50% female and recruited top reviewers, which broadly is now 40% female with representation from 17 countries across all continents except Antarctica. There are plans to expand the board to further improve representation from low and middle-income countries, racial/ethnic diversity, and gender balance. Highlighting the benefit of diverse teams, the content and methods expertise of the board has broadened, and submissions have increased significantly.
